Stan was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He was thoughtful, considerate, kind and generous and he lived life to its fullest. He was a dedicated entrepreneur and business man who cared deeply about his work at Suncrest Nurseries and his employees. The Santa Cruz County Farm Bureau named Stan "Farmer of the Year" in 2011. He had many roles in his life and performed all to perfection: he was a wonderful father, grandfather, uncle, brother, father-in-law, brother-in-law, husband and friend. He was an avid reader, loved to travel, and loved good food and conversation with family & close friends over a good glass of wine or that occasional Manhattan. Stan loved the town of Los Gatos and felt fortunate to have spent a good portion of his life there.
Stan's family was a wonderful mosaic; he is survived by wife Linda, his children and their partner/spouses: Karsten, Kathren (John) and Erik (Sarah), his grandchildren Alexandra and Sean, his former wife Nancy, his niece Mary Anne (Bob), nephews Bill (Jane) and Chris, as well as his wife's family: Britt, (Karyn), Pamela, grandchildren Justin, Braden, Ike, Luke, and Genny.
If you had the privilege of knowing Stan, take a moment and share a story of your time together or leave a note or photo here, - so that we can all share in the great experiences we had together with him.
Thank you!
Stan was a big supporter of the "Doctors Without Borders" charity. If you would like to make any donation in remembrance of Stan, we encourage you to make a donation to this organization in Stan's honor: https://donate.doctorswithoutborders.org/tribute.cfm

I look forward to the time when we can welcome him back under much better conditions. I wonder how the look of surprise and elation will fill his face seeing the earth filled with the plants and flowers he loved. There will be so much that he will be able to teach all of his great children and great great grand children to come. We will never have to say goodbye to him again. If the scriptures promise of paradise is real and true, if 'the meek shall inherit the earth and live forever upon it' as Psalms 37 says who will be there more than him?

My favorite times about Papa Stan
Papa Stan was a wonderful grandfather. He was so calm and helpful. I really wish he could still be here with us. It was such a shock when he died. I was with him on Thursday and I was wishing to see him again. But he will be in my heart forever and I will never forget him.
Love,

My favorite things about Papa Stan from Sean (age 7)
My favorite thing is that he would take us out for ice cream. I love him and I wanted to know more about him. I wanted to be really good to him and to know what he was really about. I really wish I could just fish with him. Without him here I feel sad.
Love Sean xoxoxo
I feel so very lucky and honored to have known Stan and to have had him as my father-in-law. From the very first day I met him (at Kathren and John's wedding!) he accepted me into the family. He was so gracious, generous, considerate, and loved being a part of all aspects of our life, be it a relaxed dinner in the chaos of our home, or sitting on the sidelines cheering his grandchildren on at their various soccer or basketball games. He was always there, always present. I will miss him terribly.
